"dead spot" in clutch?
Probably nothing wrong with the car. A lot has changed over the last 30 years.
Not sure how you saved 15 grand plus by age 16 unless you dropped out of school and did child labor. I know a few people that claimed to have bought stuff for themselves, I've only met one person in my lifetime besides myself that continued in school and purchased some decent cars outright in the process. I suppose that is besides the point.

i grew up with a kid that by high school he had a rather large landscaping company and bought a brand new f150 for work and a gmc typhoon for play......oh, and he was also one of the biggest drug dealers in the area and used the landscaping company as a front.
I had a landscaping business as well, but if you added machinery and expanded at the most profitable rate it is almost impossible to save up 15 grand in a year or two, but I suppose you could get a loan. I bought a 300zx twin turbo when I was almost 18. Worked 70-80 hours a week at 8.50/hr + overtime obviously in a distribution center over the summer and never spent a cent. Worked a job 25 hours a week during my sophmore year since I turned 16 the day school started. I am skeptical when people say they saved so much by 16. I am probably just slightly bitter how fortunate some kids are today.
Get another s2k member to drive the car and see what they think, i'm still standing by that nothing is wrong with it.

Re-reading the first post, I see this:
This statement is very confusing to me. Why is he trying to "get it into gear" while manipulating the clutch on take off?
He says when it hits this spot that it doesn't want to go into gear, and it starts to stall out.
that it's confusing to me as well. There's only ONE spot that you want to "go into gear", which is when the clutch pedal is depressed all the way. How "dead" is this spot?Regarding paying fully for an S2k (used or not) at the age of 16, I can't say for the OP. However, I've heard that some rich teens who have never worked to earn money but they get ridiculous amount of monthly pocket money from parents such that they can save up and eventually buy their own cars with their "own" money.

maybe the car was beat the crap out of
possible since it does have mods hahayou cant own anything at 16 though. so i'm a little confused. cant get a loan without credit neither. i guess if he had the money, he could have possibly paid his parents and they bought it haha.
i think people are wanting to keep this thread alive while waiting for this kid to answer the basic questions we have asked. but yes xviper you are correct, we did digress a bit. sorry
