Decelerating causing rattling in 04...

hmm, would putting in a few strategically placed cushions between spring coils fix it?
koala, the springs are in the disc (4 of them I think), not the pressure plate. yea the pressure plate has springs, but not the springs that vibrate.

I recently replaced my '02 clutch, and noticed how loose my 4 springs were in the clutch disk. However, I don't recall ever hearing any noise on decel. The springs in the new clutch disk were pretty taught, so I guess they loosen up over time.
My suggestion is to not decellerate in gear with the clutch released (on the street). I usually don't unless I'm on the track. The F20C doesn't provide much engine braking anyway.

I've got it on my 04 too. It started soon after adding a new stock clutch, HD pressure plate, and lightened flywheel. No issues before that.
I was hoping it was just a heat shield vibration due to the new pieces and not something inside the tranny; it has that type of sound. Guess that's not the case, based on the posts.
It's pretty annoying with the top up, but I don't notice it with the top down.
