Default Defogger - hardtop vs soft top

I have a simple question to which I've been unable to find an answer and hope you all can help me out:
2005 AP2 - when I lower the factory soft top and put the hardtop on, including plugging in the defogger / defroster, does this automatically disconnect the defogger on the soft top ?
Plenty of warnings to not engage the defogger when the top is down but nothing about disconnecting it when installing the hardtop?

What say y'all?
thanks!

The oem driver side catcher for the oem hardtop hardware has a disconnect button on it that is wired to the harness, When the weight of the hardtop is on the catcher button it disconnects the defrost to the soft top glass, so you are safe in that regard. Just make sure your rear catcher is in proper working condition with the wire on it.

How would you test the rear catcher to see if it was working? I know my HT is wired completely with the harness but the car is never left out so I never have any fog build up. Would you happen to know how many volts are at the catcher so that I could test with a multimeter? Thanks!
