I've seen OEM Tensioners that are mounted on the on either the inside or outside of the belt. I don't see an issue where the tensioner is at, or what direction the engine rotates as long as a the tensioner pulley is held steady.

If I was going to redo the Vortech tensioner, I'd swap the fixed idler pulley with the Tensioner pulley location. You can easily reach the idler pulley location under the car.

From my understanding you should not put a tensioner on the "pull side" of the crank pulley, you should always put it on the "push side" unless the belt can slip, the tensioner can take a lot of force or the parasite pulley is not held by a strong bracket.

I gave a lot of thoughts about the automatic tensioner too. I don't think it will work on our current setup. Imagine this, you come out of a corner at say 4krpm and you stomp on the gas. The crank will pull the SC pulley with a lot of force. This force is absorped by the automaic tensioner since it's on the "pull side". It probably will lift the automatic tensioner off unless it's a very strong spring. If the pring is too strong then there will be too much friction for the belt at other time eg cruise or idle. This will shorten the belt's life.

only if it's on the left hand side of the supercharger (ie on the crank's pulley "push side")

I did a bit more research and you guys are right again
The V2SQ is not designed for cogged pulley
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/support/faq.html#44

I will have to upgrade my SC for HD or go to a 8 rib system.
I will keep you guys posted on how this will go

Oh one last question, just in case someone hasn't putted their supercharger in yet

how big is the gap between the crank pulley and the water pump pulley?
