Default Did 220 torque fix rear wheel problems?

Since Honda upped the torque spec to 220 on the rear axle nut, has anyone heard of anymore problems with rear hubs, bearings, etc? Are popping noises still being heard and are components still failing or did this seem to solve the problem? Gernby??

I think it will take a while to know. I hadn't really thought much about whether the rear bearings could be failing due to too little torque on the nut. I guess that could have been the case if the bearing races were shifting a round slightly from side to side.

Gernby,
Thanks for the quick response, I will be buying used soon and want to know what I should be looking for. Hopefully it will be an 03 that came from the factory with the higher spec making this (fingers crossed) a non-issue.

PLYRS 3,
This is from July 2002

I 've had this TSB done twice due to the popping noise and it eventually comes back. I haven't had any other problems due to this.

If it has been done more than once, is there a chance there might already be some bearing or hub damage? Any play in the hub? If so, I believe retorqueing would be a temporary fix (I think this was exactly Gerby's case and he ended up replacing both hubs).

how do you verify hub/bearing damage?

We are getting a bit out of my league so you should probably read this.

Several contributions from those that know much more about these things than I.
