i guess the bottom line is people can talk about whether it can or can't be done all day.

but he still needs to find out what fluid was put where!!! all the speculating in the world isn't gonna help him!

 

The only person that can tell us what kind of oil was used in the diff and tranny, is the thread starter.

 

And he seems to have gone AWOL!

 

sorry guys that i have not responded. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH ALL FOR YOUR IMPUT. i had a little talk with the tech after the service just to ask how it went and he said that the transmission took both quarts of the Honda MTF that i provided. i am really kind of worried now though that SOMEHOW something got mixed up. i would find it hard to believe that he would put the bottle marked TRANSMISSION FLUID anywhere else, but you never know. i will talk to my step-father tomorrow first thing since he was with the tech during this service. i do appreciate the info. guys. by the way there was no gear whine on the way back to my house, which was a 45 mile highway trip. i will still check to make sure. thanks again.

by the way, the car war put on a normal lift. lifting the car about 6 feet in the air from the center of the car.

well i certainly do not think thats reasonable but thats just what my step-father told me. who knows, maybe it was just a stupid rumor going around the dealership?

 

With the car being level like this, it is hard to put all 2 qts of fluid into the tranny and definately impossible to put 1.75 qts of fluid into the rear diff. Fluid would be oozing out of the diff before he even finished the first bottle.

 

Depending on what sort of pump the mechanic used, it might well take some quantity (even a quart or so) to prime the pump. I'm still thinking this whole thing is really no big deal.

 

that's the problem.

thinking it's not a really big deal, when the worst COULD have happened. would you be willing to gamble with both your differential and tranny? if the wrong fluids were in there, you're looking at replacing both as about a 99% certainty.
