Default Diff fluid change in progress - question!

I just drained my diff and put in 1qt of Redline 75w-110. Unfortunately, nothing came out the FILL hole when I filled it. I thought 1qt. Would be enough to have it start to drizzle out the file hole. Do I need more? I may have spilled an couple of oz., but that’s in. Thanks!

I recently did this on my S2000. Your car needs to be level for it to properly drain out and leave the right amount in the case. You should confirm the car is level. I used a similar weight oil (was a bit difficult to pump due to the viscosity), but I do recall using up a little less than a quart. You might have fluid still in your pump lines. I always buy more fluid than necessary in case I spill. You dont want to have your car stuck due to lack of fluid. Dont drive until it is filled properly and I hope you got the copper washer from the dealer.

Car is perfectly level. I do have the washer. I assume that 1qt should have been enough? Please confirm. Thanks

Forum search says 0.7q to 1.0q. Regardless of what's stated, you fill until you have fluid dripping out of the diff fill hole. Im willing to bet you are just shy of being full but up to you to take the chance?

If you can, stick you finger in there to see if the tip gets wet with oil. If it is there right below the hole, you should be fine.

Figured it out. The tube I had in the bottle was not long enough and did not get to the last 2” of the fluid. Came up with another way to get it out and all it good. Sorry for the trouble...

You could always play gynecologist and get your finger in there to feel around how close fluid is to the top*.

Maybe some of you were thinking proctologist. But given a choice, I'd prefer to be the former...

* Note, you always need to get it to pour out, but if you were real close at least you'd know it was safe to drive gently till you could source more fluid.

The little bottle pumps only have an intake tube long enough to reach the bottom of the standard kinda squat quart plastic bottle.

This type bottle should work with the standard little pump:

This bottle probably won't:

Ignore the bottle contents, that's another topic.
