Default diff question

Having never had a car with any kind of limited slip diff before, I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is normal. If I'm driving easy, it feels like any other car, but if I push it and turn sharp (like making a right hand turn from a stop sign), I hear (maybe feel) a kind of groaning from the rear, almost like a shudder(sp). I hear no other clicks or anything. I replaced the diff fluid with redline synthetic about 2 months ago, but I'm not sure if the "problem" started after that or if it was already present.
Any advice?
Roger

One thing you can try is go into an empty parking lot and do figure 8's and see if you hear things then. I hear NOTHING!(except tires and engine) No groans etc. How many miles do you have on the car?

Another way to tell if your Torsen is OK is to jack the rear of the car up in the center (so both rear wheels are in the air) put transmission in 1st, hand brake off, and by hand turn the rear wheels a couple revs. You should feel smooth resistance from the brakes dragging and no crunchiness at all. Do both sides forward and backwards and report back

what you are experiencing is the LTD slip diff coming into play, when i drive hard on wet greasy UK roads i feel it daily. Nothing to worry about, basically its looking after you.

It's normal and particularly noticeable when cold.

Not sure if you know or not but just in case....

Check that the Redline you put in the diff was compatible with limited slips.
For example:
75-90NS... does not have the "friction modifier" for posi.
75-90... does

And if you accidentally put the ...NS stuff in and you were getting the same groaning noise, you can buy the friction modifier separately for about $2 and put that in and all the noises go away. But I don't say this from experience... honest.
