Default The difference 50,000 miles makes!

Well a group of us in the New Orleans forum got together this weekend and adjusted our valves. We did 3 cars in just a few hours. My car has 68,600 miles on it while PhilS2000 only had 13,000 miles. Here are the pics of when we opened them up. Mine is first... his is second. ENJOY!

YES! Several were very loose and one was tight. I didn't expect to find one tight. Two were in spec and needed no adjustment.

Phils S2000 had several that were the most out of spec!!! I think they were one on the intake and one on the exhaust side of #4 cylinder.

Everything everyone else has reported is true... smoother idle and smoother revving.

BTW: We did this without pulling the spark plugs.

Is there a "how-to" on this site somewhere? I'd like to do this to mine. I've done it on other cars, but I'd like some instructions before working on this one. Thanks if you can help. -Ben

Darkening like that can happen from one overextended interval with conventional oil. What's your oil change history like?

Every 7K religiously. Mostly with synthetic blend. Also I just realized that my pic was taken in a garage under flourescent lighting and the other was taken outside. This made things appear VERY dark.

The little bit of surface varnish is probably from the conventional part of the blend.

My experience with full synthetic is no varnish at all even with over 100K miles on the Odo.
