Default Difference between straight pipes? Spoon/BYS

Does anybody know/have pictures of the Spoon and or the BYS straight pipe to compare the 2? Somebody told me the Spoon gets more power............WHY!

I mean..........isn't it just a hollw pipe?! Why would one get more power than the other?

Thank you for your pictures. Randy's pics from '00 went the ways of a bad hosting site.

Pinky, I have my serious doubt that the Spoon or any other straight pipes for that matter would be any better than BYS one.

The BYS looks interesting. Indeed, the Spoon is a straight pipe that probably is lighter than BYS and -might- flow better due to normal pipe wall versus resonator type construction of the BYS with perforations in the wall.

The bung for the O2 sensor of the Spoon is facing down which makes slight rerouting of the lead necessary to get adequate lead length, and makes 'offroading' or going over rocks a slight concern with more O2 sensor exposure.

Is the O2 sensor a part of the OBDII system? If so, then the Mugen ecu's not using info from that sensor. It says, "OBD2 sensors are eliminated" in the ecu area here:

I have the Mugen ecu & I'd like to know also b/c I'll be getting the Spoon test pipe w/in a couple days. Prolene, is there anyway u can do what Pinky said & see if u notice any changes? Thanks!

Prolene: It does not use the sensor..........get rid of it!

HondaGuy. Just get a bolt that is threaded the same as the O2 sensor. Be sure its not to long..........just long enough to thread into the hole(less air resistance.) I would say probably stick a tiny bit of lock tight or something like that to keep it from popping out.

Good luck the both of you. Car will stink a little because there is no cat but you sure will notice a HP gain! Tell us how much you feel.

HondaGuy..........take pictures of the spoon pipe!!!

I don't yet...........I should be getting a BYS pipe from Turbo_pwr to use as a template for 2-3 others that a shop will make for me. Just wanted to see the diff between the BYS and the Spoon so I could say just make it this way.
