Default Differences after tranny/diff fluid change

So i got around to changing the fluid in both the diff and the tranny today.

I used Honda MTF for the tranny, and mobil 1 75w-90 synthetic gear oil for the diff. These fluids are what were reccomended in the oild journals of this forum, and agree with honda reccomendations.

notes:
The diff requires a 23mm(fill) and 24mm(drain) wrenches. The tranny requires 17mm(fill) and your 3/8" wrench will fit into the square hole on the drain plug.

procedure:
Basically i just jacked the car up drained the fluid , got a mouthfull of both kind of oil, because i tryed to syphon it (doesnt work easily btw). The proper way to fill both of them is to take the nipple from the mobil 1 and stick a tube on it and squeeze it in, the same nipple will fit on the honda mtf. Then basically to tighten everything you got to put them all to about 33 ft.lb except for the tranny drain which like 29 ft.lb. To make sure you have the right amount of fluid , just lightly tighten the fill bolts and lower the car then take off the fill bolts and let the extra drain out. THen jack the car up and tighten everything to spec.

Difference:
The primary difference is that shifting is a lot smoother when cold , it shifts cold now like it used to earlier when it had warmed up. It was definately worth it. Total cost was <$30.

Could have saved yourself a "foul mouth" had you read these first:

i definately did read those threads, and dont think i could have done it without those. Thanks btw

I just was impatient with squeezing the bottle and thought maybe syphoning would work.

This car takes exactly 1.56 quarts, or 49.92 ounces for the transmission, and .78 quarts, or 24.96 ounces for the differential. You can save time by removing the extra step of lowering the car and letting oil drip down the tranny and differential, and raising it back up to tighten everything to spec and then lower it down to the ground again by doing this.

Pump 50 ounces of Honda MTF into the transmission. (I put in 1-2 ounces extra) Pump 25 ounces of Mobil 1 GL-5 75w-90 gear oil into the differential. (I put in 3-4 ounces extra) There are ounce marks on both the Honda MTF and Mobil 1 GL-5 diff bottles. This allows you to easily measure exactly how much fluid you pump into both the tranny and diff.

To save more time, I have a pump and hose for the diff and a pump and hose for the tranny. I don't like to mix the leftover oil that is inside the pump and hose. (I am a nit picker)

So basically, for the diff, 25 ounces, plus 3-4 ounces extra, is about 4 ounces short of a quart. Like I say, both the Honda MTF and Mobil 1 GL-5 gear oil bottles have ounce markers on them. Just keep pumping oil into the diff until 3-4 ounces remain in the bottle.

For the tranny, 50 ounces, plus 1-2 ounces extra, is about 12 ounces short of the second quart. After you have pumped the first bottle of Honda MTF into the tranny, you should have 12 ounces leftover after pumping the remaining oil from the second quart.

I usually let the oil drain for 10-15 minutes, then re-torque the drain bolts. This is very simple, and you can't go wrong.

This is a more logical approach in my opinion.

I didn't notice any difference in my transmission because it shifted very well to begin with. As for the diff, there may be less resistance to momentum but nothing anyone could feel on the butt dyno.
