Differential about to go??
I had a nagging continuous noise (though I wouldn't call it "whistle") from my right rear suspension. When I had a chance to look under the car, there was a big ol' twig stuck in the supension parts. That's when I also remembered, I actually drove over a pile of twigs the day before...a very windy day. Could it be that something might be stuck under your car?
Same problem.
Humming under acceleration. loudest at 40-60 but humming at every speed developing into a whistle at about 70.
The honda dealer is telling me he won't warrantee it because I autocross.
Can anyone let me know if I've got any defense? I don't have the warranty with me right now, so I can't exactly quote it.
I know the prices, so please don't repeat them. That just makes me ill to my stomach every time I hear them.
Thanks

I had an inspection sticker on the car the first time I went in for service, and he remembered me.
I went back yesterday and he told me to go to another dealer and maybe they could service it under Warr.
The guy turned out to be really cool.
I've got it at another dealer now, waiting.

Interesting. I just got a call from the dealership to pick up my car...apparently, they determined that the "whine," "whistle," or whatever the sound is, is apparently coming from the differential, but they told me I'm okay to drive it. They told me that if the sound gets louder, bring it back in. I am taking it in next week to get the 4.44 installed. That will give them a chance to take a peek inside. I hope things will be okay between now and then...it's my only car.

. J's 4.44 gears was wasted and my limited-slip was no good . My advice to you , let the dealer inspect your limited-slip before you put the gears in . I was told that my limited-slip was going bad (where all the noise was coming from) which also caused for my gears to fail . My point in taking the car to the dealer was for them to inspect and tell me what's wrong with the car . Their answer was "We did not see any visual problem , you have no immediate danger" . "We did encounter a noise in every gear light throttle , something internal going bad slowly" . If they would of told me it's your diffrential , I would have just towed the car to my mechanic and maybe saved the gears !
