They do not wash and reuse them, they are liable if something goes wrong. Remember that washers are there for a reason. It's the actual washer that creates the seal not the head of the bolt.

You will notice that used washers are crushed. In worse case senarios you can flip the washer over and crush the other side if it's still looks good.

If you order the washer from the dealership it usually only take a day or two for them to get the part to their local service dept. Just because they don't have it in stock shouldn't stop you from ordering them.

The dude behind the desk didnt know what I was talking about at the one dealership... he said "I have never seen those washers before, we use the ones from automatics."

what?

 

My dealer just doesn't bother to use washers. First one the pulg fell off the oil while driving, the second noticed when I did the oil.

I have one suggestion, the part number for the washers are wrong - missing a "0". Should be:

Replacement washers 90402-PCZ-003, 90401-PCZ-003

These were difficult to obtain. I had to drive to 3 different dealerships before I found both of them. The parts clerk referred to them as "gaskets".

Obviously these are not heavily stocked by the dealers... makes we wonder how their mechanics perform maintence without them.

 

I just changed the fluid this weekend and let me tell you what a difference. Wow, I used Motul gear oil that I purchased from the dealer here in So Cal.

 

Hey guys I recently picked up all the necessary items to change my diff fluid washers, pump, diff fluid etc. While at the dealer picked up the fluid along with the washers. One of the parts guys gave me Quaker State 80-90w diff fluid for the S. I asked if he was sure this was the correct fluid. He guaranteed me it was fine to use in the S' diff. I just wanted to make sure this is fine to use. Thanks for any info guys .

i just did tranny and diff last night the right up helped a lot......the only thing is finding a 23mm wrench.... went to 4 different stores only to end up using a cresent wrench. do they not make a 23mm? is it a honda specialty tool or something lol.

 

I just want to make sure that I have this correct as I would like to buy the tools to do this. I have a Sears gift card burning a hole in my pocket.

Is the drain bolt 23mm or 24mm, because it looks like you would want to use a socket on the drain bolt, and a wrench on the fill bolt.

Assuming they have them at my local store, which should I get?
23mm Socket and 24mm Wrench
or
23mm Wrench and 24mm Socket

 

I got 23mm box end wrench and 24mm socket from my local sears for changing the oil.

23mm wrench will fit to fill bolt and 24mm socket will fit to drain bolt.
