Thumbs up Dirty air filter... bad to drive? *problem fixed*

I have a comptech intake and my foam filter is pretty dirty. I want to get the AFE replacement, but it's kinda hard to find a place that has them except for amazon. Anyway, is there a big performance hit when driving with a dirty filter?

Yes.... and depending on how dirty it is....it can be significant.

^ K&N doesnt make a replacement for the Comptech ICE Box...if u know something i dont post a part #....


I have an AFE Filter on order from amazon for 1 month now...... they still havent shipped it....bastards....


i called AFE @ the # on their website and they say that filter isn't even available on the market yet? How the heck did the other S2K guys who are using it get it?!

they never replied....

amazon emailed me saying it hasnt shipped and my cc hasnt been charged yet.....


so if anyone finds this filter else where IN STOCK let me know as i need one badly.

hey silver, have you thought about just getting that comptech foam filter cleaner? im probably gonna get it and just clean my filter

Im not sure if this is bs information or not but someone once told me that a dirty filter will filter better than a clean one. However, it will affect your performance (power) and gas mileage. Is this true?

A dirty filter is just one doing its job and usually looks worse than it is. Air flow is not impeded enough to affect performance until it is very bad, usually only happening if you drive in extremely dusty conditions. A filter normally does not need cleaning or replacement for in a year or more, many are relatively clean in 25K miles.
