The above diagram is for the drivers door lock actuator. If you don't want drivers power lock to work, You can unplug it there. The buzzer is built into the instument cluster. To make the dinging go away, You would have to unplug the ignition key switch connecter. Remove the 3 screws under under the steering column lower cover. The really fun part is removing the cover without breaking any of the locking tabs. Push in on the lower cover, and work your way around the cover pulling down. Cursing occasionally also seems to help persuade the cover. The connector is green, and has 2 wires, and 5 unused cavities. Don't unplug the immobilizer reciever connector right next to it. (Car won't start) That should make the dinging stop.

I would rather just close the door.

Another option, Remove the key. That's what the dinging is for.

How do you know how to do it. Did you have to do it yourself?

I work on honda's for a living. I like the dinging. It keeps the keys in my pocket.

Some of us enjoy the freedom of being able to have the key in the ignition (radio on or what have you) with the door(s) open, without a beep or buzzer to annoy us.

In my 7 years of driving (admittedly not much) I've never locked my keys inside. The first thing I did to my car when I got it in '99 was remove the door ajar buzzer.

Now that you mention it, it does kind of makes sense. I can see myself going to the beach, lay down on the sand, watch the sky and listen to some music with door open. Nice.
