Just unplug the connector. The connector is green. There are 2 green connnectors, one has 7 cavities, the other 5. Unplug the 7 pin that only has 2 wires in it.

Also, I noticed when I pulled the back-up fuse (7.5A) under the driver side dash, that the chime stopped. Also, the parking lights inside the car dimmed when the key was out of the ignition. then again, it may have just been my car freaking out. Who Knows?

Back up/instument light (7.5A)in the under dash fuse box supplies power to:
1. Gauge assembly
2. Convertible top control unit
3. Back up light switch
4. EPS control unit
5. Keyless entry control unit

Removing the fuse effects all of these circuits.

Power is applied to back up/instument light fuse with the ignition switch on. All of these units are applied power through other fuses as well. This fuse is essestially key on power to those units.

Slow..you are daman.. i got the cover off, three screws as stated it was sort of easy...and you had to get a little frustrated with it...found the wire, green connector with two wires...no more door chime...getting the cover on and fitting up on the colum upper cover was a pain, taking several retries till i learned that the ignition switch fitting and the rubber o ring are the key, they have to fit perfectly then all is well...still, there is a small gap, coulda been there before, maybe the stretching of this plastic???anway i am satisfied with the mod...no more annoying door chime when the door is ajar and the key is in...still have lights on door open waring and seatbelt warning and green key flashing light.

thanks again, best answer prize goes to you...
