Default Discontinued AP1 Parts

I know AP1s are 15+ years old. Don't expect a car company to keep making parts for old vehicles. I am asking if AP1 owners have found it difficult to find and repair parts that have been discontinued?

I’m in the process of rehabbing my 2001 AP1 and have been getting a large number of my parts from https://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/. They have been the lowest priced sourcer if found. Also have checked the S2000 Facebook groups and EBay. Knock on wood, I haven’t run into a part I haven’t been able to find.

I think at this point only optional parts have been discontinued. Things like the hardtop, AP1 oem lip. I also think Honda doesn't offer the short block anymore but not 100% sure on that.

Lots of AP1 parts have been discontinued. Engine, tranny, red or blue interior plastic parts or seat leather, etc. Stuff is disappearing.

A lot of AP1 all red interior parts being discontinued the last few years.

I checked a few parts and I found Majestic Honda(hondaautomotiveparts.com/) to be cheaper when buying high priced parts than Hardtopguy(247hondaparts.com). Jeff(Hardtopguy) will price match other online dealers though.

I've been thinking about buying a driver's side seat.

Yeah, lots of parts are disappearing, esp. AP1 parts that only changed color/texture in later model years (interior door handles, center console, etc). I believe Honda's official commitment is to keep parts available for 10 years, with no guarantees after that. So even the 2009s will "age out" next year.

Of particular interest to me (see my sig), new OE suspension springs are disappearing. Both '00-'01 swaybars are gone, the '00-'01 rear spring is gone, and the '02-'03 front spring is gone. All dampers are still available, though for some reason a couple of the '04-'07 rears are priced unusually high, which might indicate they're on the way out.

Oh, and the '00-'01 16" bright-silver rims are gone (can still get the '02-'03 rims, which have the light-champagne tint).

Stock up now!

"seat" as in cushion? Or the entire seat? An entire seat would be _very_ expensive (based on what I just paid for a driver's seat cushion from majestic honda: $282!?)

If you go to a reputable auto upholstery shop, they can do a re-cover or complete rebuild of the seat to your specifications. You can make it look just like the original OEM if you want. Shoot, make the entire thing from leather (nice leather too, not the plastic leather bonded stuff Japan often uses) if you want to. You will spend about half on the cost of purchasing new seats.
