Default Discussion of Comptech SC Problems

Per users requests.

I am opening this thread for our users to discuss the recent bracket failures and it's relation to the "ghostbooster"

No ghost booster, no cracks. Over 7000 supercharged miles and counting.

According to my various sources:

davepk-ghostbooster-multiple bracket failures
SilverSurfer-ghostbooster-bracket failure
CompTech's Car-electronic voltage clamp-bracket failure
RT-electronic voltage clamp-NO PROBLEMS......yet (~6000 SC miles)

just the facts (feel free to make corrections David and Keith).

RT, the one correction I would like to make would be to say that the Comptech car was running the GhostBooster not the "electronic voltage clamp"

In my discussions with Shad, he told me he was using a voltage clamp set to 2.93 volts
I don't know, he was very specific, what do you think?

Hmmmm... well that is a valid description of the GhostBooster they are using.... There are a couple different revisions running around... I've had 2 different type cause failures... the one discribed and pictured in the GURU thread and another that relies on a fixed voltage reference (2.93V) I've seen the one that Comptech has used and its the fixed V version. Hope that helps clear things up.

Your comercial voltage clamp apperently doesnt have the sharp cutoff that the GB does, thats why I had Shad give you a call. I believe that therein lies a clue....

For those that are curious about what the cracks look like and where to look for them, here is a picture of the one on my alternator bracket.
