Default Distilled water only in radiator?

I remember reading on the Royal Purple website a few months back that their coolant additive added to just water in a radiator is the best for keeping water temp down. I know cars have been using only water for a long time just wondering if its worth doing for the summer to our cars. Somebody told me that it works fine for older cars but some newer ones cannot do it. Any advice is appreciated since I dont want to waste my time doing this in the summers only to have to change it out in the winter unless its worth it. Also would I have to check the radiator daily just to make sure theres enough water in there because it may evaporate quickly? I've been running the antifreeze the dealership sells since september when I had the fluid changed. Oh and I'm about to upgrade to a Koyo 53mm radiator if that makes any difference from the stock one. Thanks for the advice guys

Its a good idea to run at least 30% antifreeze since it contains lubricants for the water-pump and also anti-corrosion agents that prolong the cooling system's life. Personally, unless you're seriously racing your S2k on the track and experiencing cooling issues, I see no reason to use anything but the premixed 50/50 stuff from the dealership.

Don't do it. The mixture of antifreeze and distilled water forms an azotrope mixture that has a higher boiling point than water alone.

Won't hurt anything. You just need to check more often to make sure the coolant level is correct. I ran only distilled water year round in my 91 300zx for several years on the stock waterpump, no issues. I'd suggest using at least 10% antifreeze incase for some bizzarre reason you encounter freezing temp's.

I had a friend in SoCal who sold his car to a guy in MN. While the car was shipped the engine block cracked because he used only distilled water and redline water wetter. Also, it is almost impossible to run only distilled water, some of the old stuff will almost always be mixed in.

i just emptied my coolant reservoir twice and refilled with distilled water to dilute the concentration a little bit.

Im missing somthing here?.....Whats the downfall of just using 50/50 antifreeze/coolant and water mix?......Why not just use whats reccomend by Honda?

Honda knows better then Royal Purple or any of these other companies.

water cools faster than coolant.

What problem are you trying to solve?

The standard fill of coolant provides adequate cooling, prevents corrosion, and will not freeze.. Is there some issue that makes this inadequate?
