afaik the engine has a lower fuel cut and simply won't allow the vtec solenoid to open if it's not warm. i'd been driving for about 30 minutes, it was definitely warmed up. no wierd devices on my keychain. very odd.

car is DEFINITELY fine though... i'm just a bit sketched about it happening again at a more inopportune time, i.e., while turning, in dense traffic, etc.

just to clear a few things up. It IS IMPOSSIBLE to over rev the engine in nuteral (but if you decide to rev the engine to 9k with no gear selected you can say bye bye to your engine pretty soon). The ONLY way to over rev is to MISS a down shift.

i bounce off the rev limiter all the time and no probs for me.

I love these posts as the get all the comments form those with opinions.....that don't understand OBD-II. The previous poster is correct in that you cannot over-rev an S....except on the downshift. And we have lost many a car to it. As for warming up the V-TEC solenoid is actually oil pressure based. ....seems like a moot point here. My suggestion would be to pull the codes of the OBD-II system It might run 20 bucks max. Post the codes here or PM me and we can let you know what's up with your car. Remember there are hard codes and soft codes in OBD-II. Just because your car doesn't have an idiot light doesn't mean your car doesn't know where the issue is.

duh, you know, i didn't think of that. i have the OBD-II interface cable for my laptop and software to datalog and pull codes. i'll see if it has anything. considering that it's been running great for a couple days now, up to the redline, i am pretty sure it's fine. no loss of power or unusual sounds.

thanks for the comments.
