DIY: from AEM CAI to Js/Password JDM CF Intake
*mailbox inquiries*
first of all, mad props to S2KNJ (Andy) for volunteering to donate his stock airbox to me. hopefully, I can meet up with him tomorrow so that i can work on modifying the airbox to act as the heat shield for this intake. Thanks Andy!
it's fairly simple.
The intake you need, (DC2 w/ ABS) Js/Pasword Intake, will only have one bend, which is located after the throttle body shown in these pics.

The other style intake, the regular DC2/Civic Js/PasswordJDM Intake, has two bends. It has one after the throttle body and before it connects to the filter as shown here.

I highly doubt that the regular DC2 intake will fit and clear our engine bay. The second bend will most likely end up hittin the radiator mount and will be protruding farther than usual. To be safe, just order the ABS version. hope this helps
it might, it might not. as i said, S2KNJ (Andy) will donate his oem airbox to me. if it doesnt fit, then ill hack the box up and make it fit.
that's why it's a DIY. to me, it's better to spend $200 on materials, meet new friend(s) that are willing to help you along the way, and inspire other people to be creative on their own way.
i used to own a civic with a jdm b18cr engine in it and yea, i know about the power difference. however, on that same thread, someone made a comment that they used the Js and AEM CAI on their H22 and had this as their dyno:

the js intake made 1.4 hp and .3 torque than the AEM CAI. after seeing that, i was ready to sacrifice a few hp and torque just so i can have peace of mind knowing that my car has a really low chance of hydrolocking compared to an AEM CAI.
yea, i went from an extra 2+ hp gain and high hydrolocking chances intake to a louder VTEC popping, quicker throttle response, almost no hydrolocking chances intake
im honestly not surprised that some ppl here opose and do not like the mod that i did since they are so concerned about dyno and power loss. but to me, i put reliability and safety over power and hydrolocking. if you feel that the extra 2+ hp is worth being scared everytime it rains heavily cuz your precious CAI might hydrolock your engine, then that's your choice. do a search on people here hydrolocking. i wonder what main source of hydrolocking is. hmmmmm
as it's been said a million times over: to each his own. enjoy your extra hp gain. have fun with hydrolock.
as i said in the beginning, I AM NOT YET DONE WITH THIS SETUP. After I receive and modify Andy's stock airbox, and combine it with the aut cooling plate, then i'm done. so relax.

here is a dyno run on ITR

i know it's not the same car but i don't recall any short ram(without heat soak protection like k&N fipk) makes any power let alone gains.
if you plan to do a dyno anytime soon please let us know.

Looks good!
I wish I would have tried it first.... You bought this off of my co-worker DOHCmonster on H-T right?
