Cool idea, but its a hot air intake. You will get heatsoak like crazy since its right there by the header. OEM Airbox with a snorkel or AUT cooling panel FTW! If you want a short ram intake, get a K&N FIPK, or the Comptech. Its not like their really expensive.

^ Yeah for your FIPK and your vented hood, I think it would be simple to make a cover for your filter, or something to rig onto the bottom of your hood under the scoop where the filter is. As long as rain isnt just dripping on it, you will be fine. Look forward to seeing what you make.

Good idea going there since you have the vented hood. Maybe if you made another sheet metal cover just with more smooth corners and such (looks like some sharp angles), it would look a little more finished. Then paint it flat black and it would look like it goes there. Also, how did you mount it on there?

yeah i thought about those sharp edges when i was looking at it but i know to be careful when im dealing with it. I also have some egde where they were longer so i bend them down to make a box kind of look. i might just paint it but we'll see. the only thing that is hold is the top screw in the back of the L bracket everything thing else is kind of tucked away with the fender and aut cooling plat because i made it longer to go under those stuff. just something so water doesn't get into the filter.

I like the whole point of this post.

Well written, good pictures etc. Good Job.

Personally I wouldn't have chosen the "whale dick" intake setup but thats only because I don't find that intake appealing looking at all.

I want the same setup, as what you will have after your cooling plate comes in, but with the FIPK.

Honestly what does it matter 2 hp, for all the benefits in security, and increased throttle response. I personally have rigged many intakes, each of them did something I liked, either sound or actual performance but I never worried about a 2 hp difference, I did it for the fun of doing it.

"to each his own" +1 (except for putting a sports car on airbags, thats just sick....)
