I have little doubt your right Jezzder - I don't believe he's active duty. Judging by the character of the posts - it's likely the individual posting is a pre-pubescent junior high school brat - probably using their Dad's login while Dad's away serving his country.

If the individual is active duty, his service probably mirrors the attitude you're seeing here - perhaps being processed out for the same attitude.

And you're right Jezzder - Military personnel have the obligation to act in a much more professional manner. I've been serving for over 20 years

i think if you press the clutch pedal, that actually unloads the clutch pressure plate springs , the leverage of the pressure plate is on the flywheel. the thrust bearings might have much more wears by dumping the clutch instead of releasing it. If the above modificaion is done, the cam shafts to unload the value springs should also be removed when engine shuts off to reduce valve springs/retainers wear. And to lift the wheels off the ground to reduce strut springs sage.

You're 180 out... but nice try at the theory though. I'm not being sarcastic.
It doesn't matter if it's a push or pull clutch, the constant load is maximum with the clutch pedal pushed in - that's a well established fact.
SpitfireS and I however disagree about the clutch dump issue. I think there is a shock load factor associated with dumping the clutch. I believe it's an acceleration related factor created by quickly unloading the thrust load that can shift the force momentarily - opposite the thrust washer. However, this momentary load shift likely has minimal wear consequence due to the fact it's relatively short lived.

so you think by dumping the clutch won't hurt the thrust bearings right?

Cool, I'll just lock it to prevent the crap from being FAQ linked.
