Yea I have tried pushing and pulling on it, also after we moded the mechanism we tested it before installing it, and it was all good. I just dread pulling all those panels off.

Thanks for the input though, much appreciated

Not surprising since the original posts are from well over a decade ago...

Anyone know how to install a carbon fiber trunk with no keyhole?
Does the trunk latch bar that attaches to the keyhole need to be there for the trunk to open?

the bar that runs to the key cylinder is just for opening with the key. you can leave it out but if the actuator doesnt work for whatever reason its gonna be bad.

As I mentioned in the other thread, you could rig a pull cable that came out behind the bumper for an emergency latch. Just need to make it so it pulls the correct direction but I figure it is doable.

My trunk lid is "hot swappable" lol I put a Deutsch style connector right where the factory wiring sits near the hinge arm so I can swap between my nice OEM trunk lid and the slightly less nice trunk lid with the wing. I generally leave the wing lid on now since I just run XSA for autocross (aka do not need to swap it between track and autox) but it is a nice feature. Something to think about if people are using a different trunk lid to drill and mount a wing for the track. Mark all the alignment on both lids and with the easy to get to connector, it takes less than 10 min to swap. Probably closer to 5 min

I saw the post after this one. A bicycle brake cable would work well if you wanted it run into the cabin. You could even mount a release handle somewhere under the dash or the console.
