Default Do you guys fully press down the clutch or just partially?

For me, its smoothest to press down only about halfway on the clutch when I shift any gears between 2nd and 6th. Weird thing is I fully press down the clutch when going in to 1st or Reverse.

So what do you guys do?

I'm just like you, although the owner's manual does indicate the clutch should be FULLY engaged before switching gears.

it is designed for about 5 inches of stroke so you need to depress it fully to get it. It might work for you in the short term, but given the cost of our drivetrain why risk it. If you time things properly you can shift without any clutch use but that can be risky. I see no reason or beneift to depressing the clutch part way.

The clutch isn't disengauging all the way when not fully depressed which is hard on the synchronizers and shift forks. Only pressing it half way all the time is drastically decreasing transmission life Press it All The Way Every Time

You shouldn't be moving the shifter at all until the clutch pedal is completely to the floor. You will trash the syncros and the clutch unless you do. Work on your shifting and pedal work and everything will smooth out. The travel distance does nothing for smoothness. It's smotther because you're dragging the clutch.

Its smoother because your destroying your clutch by slipping it. Practice shifting fully and you'll get better at it
