Anything to watch out for when cleaning the oxidation with steel wool? I just bought some super fine grade SW. I just don't want to damage the components.

It's hard to mess up. Just scrub them clean. i used a scotch-brite pad to clean mine.

I'll go return the steel wool then. I have a bunch of scotch brites. Did you use the ones with the yellow sponge or just the green part?

Just the green part. Copper oxide is very soft. You can use a little oil, or even some soap and water in the sink if you want. Just grease it when you reassemble it so it doesn't happen again.

Does anyone have a picture of what the switch part of the light looks like? I cleaned the oxidation with some rubbing alcohol and reassembled it and when I went to install it back on the car it doesn't work at all. Maybe I didn't do it right or the rubbing alcohol messed it up??

So THAT's why the damn thing doesn't work anymore. Thread needs to be archived in the DIY's.

Thanks OP
