Default Donut Gaskets for valve cover help

can anyone help me on how to install the donut gaskets for the valve cover.. its the circle gaskets that go around the valve cover for the spark plugs, unlike the civics the s2000 gaskets are metal and are hard to press in. i tried replacing before and when i took my valve cover off the gaskets were ripped already. am i installing them wrong?

When i did mine I just pressed mine in... the main thing to making them a bit easier is to make sure they're flat but they are a tight fit... just like when removing them! PITA!
