Default Door Lock Broke?

So I dynamatted my doors, and matted over the hinges that allow the door to open and lock. Yesterday I pull my panels back off and cut aroudn the hinges so they move freely. However, the driver side door is still not locking or unlocking well. I put the key in the door from the outside and give it about 15 turns to try and loosen it up.....CRACK...cling clank cling...the sound of somethign plastic breaking. Now the key moves freely in the door, and the door is unable to lock at all. What did I do? How can i fix it?
This suck!

did you do all of this with the door open??? youre supposed to close the door before you could lock it. you could mess up the lock system this way. they designed it so you couldnt lock it when the door is open so you would lock your keys inside of the car. this is for basically all hondas. even the 198* cars have this

I thought my doors were broken when I installed my stereo. Then I realized the doors won't lock with the little latch unless they are closed... which isn't something many people consider when the car is torn apart.

It's a MY2000 - why would Honda repair it under warranty?

Can you still lock it from the outside? You could have broken one of the retaining clips for the rods that unlock/lock the door.

I doubt that you actually broke the lock, probably just the rod that connects the inside lock handle with the lock itself. The Dynamat might be interfering with the rods Pop off your door panel and take a look.

It's probably just the rod popped off the lock mechanism. Worst case you buy a couple of small plastic hinge pieces and you're back in business.

My friends old accord had a problem with this after an accident repair, door release rod kept popping off. and only the interior handle worked. I had to take off his panel a couple times and throw a ziptie on since he didn't want to spend the few bucks to replace the rod end with a tighter fitting hinge.

Don't be worried, just pull the panel and check the rods.
