Default drains under top plugged

Every thread I've seen about water collecting in the drains under the top have basically said that it's supposed to go there and will drain out. However, after nearly 8 years of parking under trees, I'm getting significant (at least quarts) amounts of water being held without draining. Once I move the car, water will drain, typically out of the right side. I'll hear a lot of sloshing that only goes away after I make a series of turns, draining water out with each turn but not during the straights.

I haven't seen any body manuals to determine how to get in there to check and clean the drains. Does anyone have any pictures, links, suggestions, etc. to help me out before something starts rusting?

There is a drain tank (perhaps made of plastic), that goes into a lower drain hose, that goes into a drain valve.

The instructions for getting at the tank start with "remove convertible top," so you may not want to go that way.

I would check the drain valve first, to see if there is any obstruction there that you could clear. It's low down between the door and the rear wheel opening (exactly where is not clear from the illustration). Don't pull it out from the bottom though, as that would disconnect it from the hose, and you would find yourself removing the convertible top.

How'd I miss that in the manual? Doh! Since I get water draining from the right side, do you think there's a drain per side (the manual only shows the driver's side)? I suppose there could be a channel that funnels all water to that one tank/drain. Anyone had the tray out and noticed anything?

Yes, I presume one per side.
