Thumbs down PCV Hose Collapsing on Idle?

Hi All,

I performed the "Supra PCV Valve Mod" seen here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=513733&st=0&

I installed the extra PCV valve inside an entirely new hose (goodyear hose, not sure what ply) as it is a cleaner installation. Seen later in the thread here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=513733&st=50

When idling, the PCV hose is collapsing... but when I give it throttle it opens up immediately. I assume that the collapsing means it's doing it's job (creating vacuum), but is it OK for the hose to collapse and pinch together? Will I hurt anything? FYI - this collapsing didn't occur when I was N/A.

Just got my car back from being tuned... i'm at 350WHP and would like to enjoy it with no worries

Thanks!

Your hose shouldn't be collapsing. Make sure your hose is stiff enough. Sounds like it may be too thin.

Yeah, I had the same problem a long time ago. I bought a hose that had too thin of a wall and it would collapse. I ended up just getting a hose with the same diameter but thicker wall and the problem was fixed. You dont want the hose collapsing at all.

Well, it not bad, actually. at idle, there's hardly any blow-by, so all that hose is seeing is vacuum from the intake manifold. Check.

At higher rpm, there's a tiny bit of blowby, but much less vacuum. so the hose returns back to it original shape.

Also, heat soak will soften the rubber up.

i used to have this problem when i was turbo and couldn't find any thick enough hosing. there's some cool hosing out there though, thats clear with a strong wire spiraling down the hose so it'll keep it's shape. can't remember where to get it from though! Tommy from gotuning has it on his car.

04+ pcv valve is good, I did the Supra valve on my f20 but thats becuase I didn't trust the plastic valve. I've been running 350whp with stock f22 set up but with front breather removed/filtered. This is important to let any pressure release.

Thanks for the additional responses guys.

S2000Junky -- I currently have my front breather routed to my inlet elbow for the vortech Supercharger. Is there any benefit to having the front port be a straight filter and closing the inlet elbow off? (Inlet elbow right after the main air filter)

Thanks!!
