Default Drift under acceleration on road

I would like some help from those who know more about these things than myself.

I noticed last night driving home from work that when dropping down through the gears an uneven "twitch" of the rear of the car was happening. When dropping gears at high revs I do know that a twitch does occur but this felt uneven and always off to one side.

This morning I am sure it is still happening. Also under acceleration in a straight line (no need to VTEC) the car feels like it drifts to the left and when I lift off the throttle it pulls back in to line.

Can you help with possible causes and concerns that I should have please. thank you for you help.

Check your tire pressures. The S2000 is very sensitive to tire pressure differential and will pull to one side under acceleration if the right to left tire pressures vary from each other.

Thank you.

It could be that and possibly it has been gradually happening since I had the new rear tyres fit and I had not noticed until now. I will check tonight.

Excellant fast reply from you.

Tire pressure!

I had a nail go into a tire and empty it. I didn't notice it because while I was driving it emptied out. ( In a straight line in slow traffic I couldn't notice the flat, AND visually it didn't look flat... maybe a little low on air )I got on the gas from a light and the car JUMPED sideways.

It sounds like what you are feeling is just the LSD loading and unloading as you get on and then off the throttle. It feels like a little twitch, and it is especially noticable when you get on and off the throttle in a turn. That really took me a while to get used to when I first got my car.

I did think that it could be the LSD but do not know enough about it to understand how it may affect the car.

The "drifting" of the car to the left hand side feels as though it is happening from the rear of the car and is more noticeable when accelerating in a straight line.

I will check the tyre pressures first but if someone has the time to explain to me in simple terms what the LSD is and how the LSD could affect the handling of the car if not set up / working correctly that would be appreciated.

Rear toe settings. The likely cause is tire pressure, just giving an alternate idea.

Yes TIRE PRESSURE was the answer!

I checked last night to find the head of a large nail in the left rear tyre (the rear tyres are only 14 days old!). All will be sorted out tonight.

Thank you for all your advise, seems you were spot on. Tire pressures at the rear were 35 and 16 for your information.
