I'm trying to disconnect my driveshaft from my differential. I've unscrewed all the screws that connect the Diff and the driveshaft and it still wont come apart and they both still spin together. How do I disconnect the damn driveshaft from the diff? Thanks.
P.S. Does the driveshaft have to be disconnected from the transmission as well to be disconnected from the differential?
No, you do not need to disconnect from transmission to disconnect from diff........ I know this for a fact, I do not disconnect from tranny when I remove the diff.
Set the parking brake and use the engine to bust it free if you have to (6 screws right?)
You undid these, right?
Once they are out, the whole driveshaft is spring loaded such that you can push it into the tranny end several inches. Yours may be corroded a bit. Whack it with a rubber mallet. I wouldn't do the starting the engine and turning it thing. Too much can go wrong.
Now on to the next problem. How do I get the propeler things (two) disconnected from the diff? The helms manual says to use pry bars. I've been trying to use something to mimic ply bars but the things wont move a hairline. Thanks.

I used two large pry bars and small pieces of wood to increase the levering angle. You cannot just gradually pry them off. You have to get the pry bars in just the right position and then "SNAP" them off. Once they give, you must be very careful to take the output shafts off without scratching those delicate little seals on the housing. Clean off the shafts, use lots of silicone spray and a soft cloth to clean the seals. Then lube up both the shafts and the seals really well with axle grease before you set them aside while waiting or the rest to get done.
Have you seen my DIY on the diff swap? https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=85687
Keep at it. You have to "pop" them with just the right sudden force. At the ends of each shaft is a circlip. This circlip has to be suddenly compressed to be able to clear the retaining cylinder they live in. If you don't apply sufficient sudden force, they continue to grab the narrow portion of their housing. Having a second person to help you hold the diff while you do this might help.
ps. When you get the shafts out, do not remove these circlips. Leave them alone.
