Default Dropping the transmission

Anybody else attempted this? There was a post on super street that shows them just dropping the Trans mount to get access to the top transmission bolts. Would like to try this and leave the subframe/steering rack alone.

Lowering the sub frame is easy and IMO necessary.

^ truth. There really isn't any other efficient way to do this. I've tried just about every option - I'm a tech for Honda.

You CAN let it hang like that, but that's additional stress on your engine mounts you don't want. Nor do you want the engine swinging around after the trans is out and digging into the firewall. Lol.

The Honda owners manuel tells you to lower your subframe to get to the top bolts. U can leave the subframe resting on the 6 bolts as stated by Honda.

I did it this way when I did my clutch. It wasn't worth it. Better to lower the subframe.

Not really concerned about the engine mounts. I'm doing an LS swap and just need everything out lol.

just lower the sub frame. its easy. i did it with a pnumatic impact gun. little bit by bit on all four main sub frame bolts. remove the two small ones. the fronts have a gap in the thread where you should stop for lowering the subframe. don't turn the steering wheel or push the front wheels from side to side and you will be fine. if you turn the steering wheel more than 360 degrees when its not connected to the rack you can break the clock spring behind the steering wheel hub.

Much easier with the lowering of the subframe.
