Default dry engine starts

I recently switched to full synthetic motor oil in my 05... Since then every time it starts up the motor sounds like it has no oil and the oil light is on for a second or 2. I switched because it's about to be turbo... My 04 didn't do this when I switched. Granted, I did accidentally put 5w 30 rather than 10w 30 but I don't think it should make that big of a difference... could it?

do you have a ap1? mine does this but its not noticeable to me anymore

and switching weights is fine,
people switch weights all the time. more thin oil for winter (those rough cold starts )
and a heavier weight in summer for driving a bit harder (:<

No, I have an AP2... It's just wierd that I started noticing it after I switched. It's not a huge deal, just seeing if anyone else had the same thing.

If you are actually experiencing dry starts, I don't think it could be oil related. It's most likely a failure of the Anti-drain back valve in the oil filter. Try replacing the oil filter with a new one. It's not unheard of to get a defective oil filter. If that doesn't help, then go back to your previous engine oil that worked well for you.

Using a 5W-30 instead of a 10W-30 should reduce your dry start tendancy, not increase it. You don't say which oil filter you're using, but be sure to use a good quality filter with a silicone anti-drainback valve. The Honda PCX filter is highly recommended.

I run Amsoil 0W-30 in all my cars year round here in the Carolinas. It could be the oil filter as someone suggested. Many good filters on the market and you may have a bad one.

All my cars like Wix filters and my 03S likes the Wix # 51334.

As always,IMO.Results & Opinions vary!

Hmm I did try a different filter than on my other s2000... I'll try switching it out and see if that helps... Would you reccomend 5w 30 synthetic or 10w 30 synthetic for a turbo setup or does it really matter? Thanks
