dumb brake question
just want to make sure.....
will condensation on the discs cause brake squeak?
I checked my pads about 2 weeks ago and had over half left. with the weather change (yes it finally happens even down south....) my brakes will squeak when I first use them or when I lightly depress them.
just want to make sure I am not about to ruin my rotors.
thanks

If your brakes are 1/2 way through their lifespan, it is entirely possible that you have picked up an accummulation of grit and dust on the pad surface. This can give you the characteristic squeaks and squealing. You biggest concern at this point is whether or not the grit is scoring your rotors (forming lines or ridges that run the whole way around the rotor). If this is the case, it is time to put on new pads (with anti squeal backing plates or anti squeal compound) and possibly look at re-surfacing the rotors before the ridges get too deep.
