Default Early VAFC visor mount prototype

This is a very early version of what I hope to have completed in about a week. I mounted it right over the large airbag warning sticker. Let me know what ya think.

Looks like a good spot, out of the way unless desired. How about the wiring? Or the weight causing the visor to flop down uninvited?

The wiring should not be too much of a problem. It is fairly small and could be threaded down the a-pillar. It looks like it would be about the same difficulty as hardwiring a radar detector up there. As for the weight my stock visor is extremely stiff to open up and has no trouble with the extra weight. Once I get a version finalized I will most likely put some rubber stoppers up there to protect the face of the VAFC from hitting the roof.

that looks good matt, i did the same thing... yeah its pretty easy to run the wire through the pillar and down to the ecu which is directly below it. i painted my vafc housing black so that it would blend in more, andi i also built a plastic frame around it so that the cut portion of the visor does not show. i will post pics tonight.

Mike,
definately post pics. I've been looking at different ways to run the wiring out so it's not so obvious. I have to head down to the hardware store to get some plastic stuff too to frame it. I'm thinking i'm gonna screw a metal plate onto the back of the visor to prevent the VAFC from sliding in and out and then either velcro the thing in or get some brackets to screw it down. Ya, it doesn't look like it will be too tough to run in down to the ecu. I should have plenty of cable to make it down. I do have a quick question, what did you use to reseal the visor cover? I don't know what to do short of sewing it back up. I want it to look nice so that immediately rules out staples and duct tape . Let me know, this has been a pretty good project to take up some time.

I can verify that the unit is very light and with the stiffness of the visor should not be an issue. Matt stopped by my house last night and we had some great car discussion. Matt will be a welcome addition to our Utah Club as the weather improves.

Welcome aboard Matt!!
