easy tranny service
Not long ago, a poster described his idea of pushing fluid into the tranny using his modified Motive brake fluid service tank. I emailed him about details and he sent me a detailed description of his invention. I followed his instructions and made my own device and I can say that this thing works perfectly. Some people posted that this invention was overkill, but I can honestly say that it is DEFINITELY not! He took a simple maintenance tool and modified it in a simple way to make a messy task MUCH easier and cleaner. I even use his invention to make a one-shot oil fill when doing an oil change. I just fill the tank with the correct amount of oil, pressurize it with CO2 and just step back and wait for the tank to empty at a slow pace. I think that this is one of the best thought-out tools for this type of maintenance. I've used on the differential refill, but it's very slow due to the thickness of the diff fluid. If the tank had an option of a larger dip tube, then the differential fluid refill would work just as well.
Why does everyone make this so complicated? ...the way to do this is to take a length of plastic tubing and push it down from around the master cylinder.. stick the end in the tranny and a funnel in the top and pour. It takes 30 seconds and there is no device to buy or pumping.
