what is the difference between a 2001 Jap spec ecu and a US spec?

i have a jap spec s2000 but i need to replace the ecu. Can i use a US spec?

 

JDM ECU = No immobilizer
JDM ECU = No OBD2 (pretty sure)
JDM ECU = Maybe tuned a little different. I'm think the JDM F20 has higher compression ratio.

 

The JDM ECU also has a speed limiter.

 

I think it's tuned for the 98 octane fuel they have there. It also assumes a higher compression ratio, I believe.

I don't know what the benefit is on 93 octane fuel though.

 

Weird, I think my USDM 91 CRX had a speed limiter. Somewhere around 109-111 if I remember right. What speed is a JDM S2000 limited too? Just curious if anyone knows.
I have never been above 126mph in my S2000. When I backed off the throttle I felt the back end "shimmy" ever so slightly, when it should not have at all as I was being very fluid/smooth with the throttle inputs. Went home and found a screw in the driver's side rear tire which was down to about 25-26psi. I haven't gone for top speed since.
I have read that a stock USDM S2000 tops out around 155-157mph absolute max. Does this sound about right? What speed is the JDM limited to?

 

dont know what it is, but i got 160 mph in mine once. island kinda small, so not to many places to do that

 

I guess altitude would make difference. Are you right at sea level then? Also, that's fast!

 

yeah, right at sea level...in Grand Cayman...only 2 s2000 on island...i'm the only jap spec one..and the other is an older guy that hardly drives his, but his is US spec

 

Wait, so your's is a JDM spec with JDM ECU and you hit 160mph? If that's so then there can't be a speed limiter on the JDM ECU.

nope its ok, i checked the timing, and it is way off. these stupid madcanics down here dont know what they are doing. if i had the money, i would bring in a machanic. anyways, thanks anyways. but i will see how things go tmw, might still need to buy one.
