Default ECU and Immobilizer replacement? Battery disconnect Help!

I bought my '00 S2K with an aftermarket Python alarm/automatic start already on it. I was having some trouble getting it started lately due to the immobilizer not communicating with the alarm correctly. The guy I bought it from says the install was done at Circuit City but I have reasons not to believe that. When I took it to my installer, the say the immobilizer was splices into instead of using a immobilizer bypass. Now to start the car you have to disconnect the battery for at least 5 sec. After that everything is fine until you turn the car off. Then the process starts all over again. I took it to the Honda dealer and their computer suggested the Immobilizer and ECU needed replaced. So I did just that, had both replaced. Two days later, the starting issue shows back up! So I take it back to the dealer, and the same thing comes up on there computer! So they said definitely have the alarm removed and repeat the immobilizer and ecu replacement. I'm currently having the alarm removed, and monday I will have the new immobilizer and ecu installed. My question is has anyone heard of an alarm frying the ecu in a car? I can't afford to waste another ECU, this sh$t ain't cheap. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks

Why would you need to replace the ECU and immobilizer in the first place? Just remove the alarm and make sure everything is wired up correctly without it. Sorry, but it sounds like your dealer just ripped you off. Don't let them do it again.

They gave me the printout though! ECU Internal electrical failure! Sounded as concrete as it could get, plus they only charged me $99 bucks labor.

So basically the assumption here is that the wiring of the alarm possibly crossed and fried the ECU? It is possible, why didn't you remove the alarm after the first time?

I've noticed most owners on here are pretty much anti aftermarket alarm types. But I've had viper/python alarms on all of my vehicles for the last 15 or so years with no issues! I just gives me a more secure feeling, but it's coming off now! I'm just looking for any suggestions of other grimlins I should check for before having the new stuff installed. I'm really nervous about it this time around!

Hopefully Billman can chime in. I would have the alarm removed before you replace the ecu and immobilizer again. No need in spending the money on new parts if you don't need too.

The Alarm is def coming out! Thanks for the help though. I was hoping for some more input but maybe I didn't put a good enough title. Thanks

Let me add to my prior post, I meant remove the alarm and check and see if that solves your problem before you fork out the cash on the new parts. You might just get lucky

If u can replace an immobilizer and ECU and program it in 20 min. U should be in the record books!!! To get all the paneling and screws out is around 20 mins! I was there, and i got a deal on the labor rate.
