you have to take it to the dealer to reprogram the ECU for a new key. no ifs ands or buts. I think they'll charge 0.5-1 hours labor.

If it is a key REMOTE you are talking about, you can do that.

DARN!!! (Hope that is not too strong for language.)

I was just there today. I could have had them do it but I thought I could do it myself.

Is it a special Honda tool or can it be done with an OBDII Scan tool?

Thanks for the info...now I can at least go to bed and stop searching for information that is not there.

Key programming must be done at a dealer, with a Honda specific scan tool.

Duplicating an existing key can be done at a dealer as well, if you have an existing programmed key. (without taking the car in)

If you tape both your old key and new key together you should able to start your car. Hope this can help.
