Electrical Problems!

Default Electrical Problems!

Started the car this morning normally. After driving 10 minutes, CD player began to cut out. Then, EPS light came on in conjunction with CD Player cycling on and off. Shortly thereafter, instrument cluster began to dim, with EPS, SRS, and ABS lights illuminated bright, then dim. The steering became heavy. The car continued to run, and the headlights stayed on, although the turn signals did not work (instrument cluster was blank).

Left the car for 7 hours. Restarted the car, and everything was normal. Instrument cluster working. After 10 minutes of driving (on the way to the Honda Dealership), the symptoms returned. After arriving at the dealership, the driver's window would not come up and the car would not restart. Exterior lights dim and instrument cluster still blank.


This is such a bummer. I just had the clutch SB done by the dealer and this is the first time I've driven the car since - other than coming home from the shop.

My girlfriend says it is probably the alternator. My car is a '00 model with about 79k. Any ideas as to what would cause this problem?

Possibly a bad alternator, or they might not have reattached the wiring on the back of the alternator when it was removed to replace the clutch.

There are 2 connections on the back of the alternator. 1 green plug, and a bolt on power wire. Both need to be secure and tight. If the connections are good, Take it back and have the charging system checked.

Perhaps the ground wire which must be removed for the clutch job was not refastened properly. It is at the back of the engine and can easily be missed or not fully tightened.

You guys were right. The dealer said that one of the connections on the alternator was not secured. Thanks
