Electrical question
Well here is what im trying to do and im trying to figure out how to properly do this.
I never use my high beams! In the 2 year i have driven the S they have never been used......
What im trying to do is somehow make the high beam work as a low beam...... obviously im gonna have to run lower voltage to the bulb and use a low beam right? Or would i just have to use a low beam bulb in the high's?
Eventually the end result i want is to have my HID's on at night with a really yellow low beam right next to them. Will this be possible with just changin out the bulb to a low beam?

1) high beams are angled up. youre gonna have lots of pissed off people in front of you
2) the brightness of a high beam doesnt matter on voltage. its the resistance of the wire the determines the power draw. Basically, a high wattage bulb = brighter. where watts = V*A.
all elec. stuff on cars are usually 12V. this goes for both high AND low beams.
if you want to run your highs as a 'low beam' then you have to eithier cover the top of the beat so it has a cutoff like your low beam, or angle it down somehow. you cant angle the entire light down cuz your HIDs need to be aligned properly as well. If you just want 'yellow' you acn put a small LED in tehre instead..it wont help any with lighting up the road, but it will have the 'look' and it wont blind people as well.
-also, you can just toss on a lower wattage low beam bulb that will fit in the high beam space and itll work fine.

Would I be able to throw in a yellow 55w bulb and throw in some kind of relay or something to emmit a lower voltage so they won't as bright?

you could but you probably wouldnt want to.
IIRC, those lights are made to run at 12v so running it at diff voltage is bad. ITs going to draw more current, since it wants to run at a given wattage...
get a lower wattage yellow bulb if possible, or get a reflector in the front that scatters the light more...?
best thing is to try get a bulb that wont hurt your eyes if you stare directly at it.

Hmm...what im thinking is use the highbeam light bulb location, but you wire your own lower wattage light there. In other words, you won't use the OEM high beam wires.
Theres also a DIY link on here or HT that "bserious" (spelling) did for DRL lights. He did it on his black ap1. I'll try and find it.

the problem far using the high beam location is not the reflector
it's the bulb if you take a regular lightbulb like a h4 bulb it uses
the same reflector for high and low beam but there are two lightsources
inside the bulb high beam that uses the full reflector and low beam that
has a miror under the lightsource and uses the upper side off the reflector to angle the light down if you can cut off the lightsource to the underside off the reflector i think you will not blind oncoming traffic
