Default ENEOS 0w-50

I talked to a parts/service guy at the stealership and proceeded to purchase my normal Mobil1 10w-30. He asked if I had heard of ENEOS oil from over in japan. He said that their brand 0w-50 synth is the only one we can use that is so far off spec. One of the service guys uses it in his evo and it works good. I know I drive an s2000 and not an evo, but I was looking for something other than mobil 1 to use.

My question is, am I hurting anything this far off spec? It's been cool for about 600 miles. I've heard people using eneos 5w-40 synth and all the other specs under the sun. I hope Im not torturing my cylinder walls, etc. What exactly is the diff between 0w50 and 10w50....runs thinner when it's cold????

Thanks guys.

If it's not broken don't fix it.

Why look for trouble?

Are you having issues with oil consumption? If not, why bother?

No consumption issues. I was originally planning to try out royal purple 10w-30 but I heard that this spec eneos might be better.

Why did you do this. Could the parts guy convince you to use the same tranny fluid as he does in his Evo?

And why are you looking for something new? I'm just curious.

Honestly, your M1 should probably be decent to use if youre changing oil regularly.
