This has happened about three times so far:

If I let it idle for a while or turn the car off right after almost stalling a few times ( picture: going in reverse very slow in or out of a parking spot and your foot is slowly sliding off the clutch pedal and you don't have precise control over the amount of pressure- I know, but just picture it for the sake of the argument ), when I take off full throttle, the engiene hesitates to rev.

The exact feeling is when you remove the VTEC vacuum hose and the high RPM lobe is engaged all the time. I have not done this with the S but with my ex GSR (integra). The engiene is powerless and slow until the proper RPM for the hi-rpm lobes.

Any idea why this happens

More than likely you've experienced extreme heat soak. Are you using the stock intake?

Pop the hood take a screw driver flip it over and use the handle to tap the MAP sensor on the top of the TB. Rap at it 3-4 times not super hard but not a wus hit either. See if that helps ya out.

Mine was on the verge of stalling and hesitating at stop lights etc. Did the above and it sits at 1,000 all the time now!

May be I should rephrase:

By hesitation I mean that the engiene is sluggish, the rpm doesn't build up as fast and the car accelerate slower. It feels like I am in one gear higher than I actually am for the same speed. There isn't as much torque as it used to be for a given rpm in a given gear.

Idle is fine.

What kind of gas are you using? If it is 91 or above, check your fuel filter. It sounds to me like it needs replaced. When was your last change?

While you are at it, check your air filter as well. I was surprised how dirty mine got at just 10K.

If both or one of the above mentioned filters are dirty, they would contribute to the condition you described. That's probably where I would start.

BTW-How many miles are on your car? Did you buy it new? If not, do you have the service records?

I have the exact same issue with my 2004. It only happens in the summer. The problem started the first summer I had the car (it had maybe 3K miles on it).
