Default Engine almost stalls sometimes at stop

When I come to a stop and put the clutch in, sometimes the idle dips way low and you can hear the engine almost struggle to get back up to idle speed. I'm at 35K so am I overdue for the valve adjustment? Would that help as well? Should I be looking for new plugs? I'm a noob on this car and forum! Please reply gently

This happens to me too (MY03, 3500 miles). There's a thread in the DIY sticky at the top of this page that covers the issue, but there didn't seem to be a real consensus as to whether or not the fix is really all that safe for the engine.

I have this same problem too along with a few others...still don't know what's causing the car to stall...??? The "map whack" and new map sensor didn't cure the problem...

Thanks for the reference. I checked out all the stickies at the top. Very useful information. I'm thinking that I might try the carb cleaner thing. I also am probably due for new plugs as well. Hopefully that takes care of it, otherwise, I will live with it...its not all too bad! Audis are so much more of a headache!

map whack has fixed that problem for me the two times I've encountered it.

add oil, too.

I'm going to create another sticky and add it to the FAQ to replace the current one. We have since "debunked" the cleaning the TB method.

The short answer is this:

A. your ECU is confused. give it a couple days and it will "relearn" and the "problem" will go away. do NOT give it gas when it stutters, this only makes it take longer to go away.

B. if that's not it, then do the map sensor whack.

C. if that's not it, then clean the IAC motor (cleaning the TB is a dangerous way of inadvertently cleaning the IAC motor)

D. if that's not it, replace the map and/or IAC motor. though generally a bad IAC motor will cause a high/low erratic idle.

my stock injectors were flowed and were mis-matched.

i cleaned them and the flow still didn't match. We gather stock s2k injectors and matched them, and then packaged them as a matched set.

i tried that on my car, and that actually fixed my problem. its crazy that the stock/oem injectors mis-matched that bad.

Yeah I had this problem with my dads car too. Its an '05 and had very low milage on it. Basically we were out Auto-crossing and after my runs it would almost die, and one time even actually did completey die/ stall. It only happened that once to a level that actually caused a little concern to me, at least as far as the times I've driven the car.
