Default Engine Oil?

I recently purchased a 2001 S2K with 62,000 miles on it. It is a "Honda Certified" unit and had all the fluids and filters replaced before I bought it. It also had new front brake pads installed as part of the "re-certification". In addition I have replace the rear pads and installed new rotors all the way around. I have put approx. 800 miles on the S2k and have burned no oil. When I check the oil level it has not changed and it is super clean.

Thus, I feel good about my purchase and want to keep it that way.

My question is; in another 2000 miles what should I use in the engine. I have been considering Mobil 1 but don't know if it makes a difference from conventional oil. I love the car! It is a "Bat out of Hell" in a drag race or the twisties. I tend to drive it like I stole it and want to make sure that I keep up the maintenance and only use what will perform the best.

I have been a Jeep and SUV driver since I parted ways with my 1991 Nissan Sentra SER-R(bought new). I drove the balls off that car and when I sold it had 140K miles and no problems. I used valvoline 5W30 oil and did all the other maintenance myself. It was a high revving engine, but nothing compared to the S2K.

What should I use in the S2K all opinions appreciated.

Andy

62K and not burning any oil? Someone broke the motor in right . I would highly recommend a good synthetic such as Mobil 1.

I have 57,000 on my MY2001 and it doesn't burn any oil unless I spend a lot of time in VTEC, like an all day club drive. I'm using Mobil 1 10W30. I waited until I had 10,000 miles on it before I switched to synthetic.

I like to use Honda MTF in the transmission and Mobil 1 in the differential.

Welcome and enjoy your S,
Bob
