Default Engine Oil Level

All,
I've been topping my oil level out for all HPD Events. After most sessions, I notice that my dipstick is popped out.
I watched a Japanese video today that suggested that too high an oil level will cause too much pressure...
Should High Performance Driving Events drop oil level a bit? I would think so.
I'm thinking of dropping the oil level about 15 percent.
Word?

"Too much"? I don't think so. Maybe a slight increase due to the weight of the higher column of oil but to have a significant effect on oil pressure, you'd be so overfilled, that's the least of your problems.

Your dipstick is popping out because:
1. You could use a new dipstick because the O-rings on your present one doesn't exert enough pressure on the dipstick hole to keep it in. This generally has fixed this on those cars where this has happened.
2. You could use a new valve cover. Your present one may have a dipstick hole that is just a tad too big. This has been reported in a few rare cases.
3. Your PCV valve is clogged and isn't allowing internal pressures to be released well. Change the valve.

Why bother with second guessing where to have the oil level? As long as it's near or at the full mark and you keep checking to make sure it stays there between events, it doesn't matter if it's up or down by 15%. On the street, you can run it down to the "add" mark.

Mine pops out a too usually every few days... Not all the way out but just loose.. I just have to push it down.. My oil level is usually at 3/4 to full so it's not that I have too much.

Mine used to pop out too. This is what fixed it for me:

I stopped wiping the oil off the gasket part of the dipstick. When you put the dipstick back in, wipe it down but leave oil on the rubber gasket part near the handle. Presto, no more popping dipstick.

Hmm. Interesting.
I'll look at the PCV, and the gasket lube. My stick doesn't rocket out of its hole either. It just comes loose following VTEC HPDE driving.

I went through this same thing. The dipstick popped after autoX and HPDE driving. I checked the PCV valve (just shake it and it SHOULD rattle). It sounded fine but I replaced it just to be sure (Honda OEM PCV valves are way over priced). It did not make a difference. Than I just stopped wipeing the gasket and the dipstick stopped popping.

Thanks all. I'll keep a closer eye on the stick next HPDE season.
We start back up in September. Too damned hot here in the Summer.
Thanks for the ideas.
