Engine oil smoke on hard turns

Engine oil smoke on hard turns
While autocrossing this weekend my engine belched clouds of oils smoke after two very hard turns in both of my last two runs. At both corners I hit the brakes and then downshifted into first before taking a hard, 90 degree turn. I accelerated out of the turns and did not overrev as I never hit the rev limiter until I was well out of the hard turn. The smoke clouds were huge and very scary to see in the rear-view mirror. The car seemed fine after and I drove it about 200 miles without any further incident.
An experienced S2000 racer told me it was oil being pulled into the combustion chambers by getting into a bypass valve. This makes sense to me, but I do not know what this valve is or how it works. It also makes sense to me because my oil level was a little higher than the "full" mark, which means there was more oil in the engine than there should be.
Anyway, has this happened to others and how, exactly does the oil get into the cylinders. Also, does this require any maintenance, like changing or cleaning the bypass valve?
Thanks.
Bill

Personally it has never happened to me before, but a few on the boards have from AutoX'in. From what I know, it is oil being pulled into the intake manifold by the PCV Valve on the head cover and than burned in the comubstion camber, causing the smoke you saw.
This picture shows a oil catch can "catching" oil from the PCV to the intake manifold. It should give you an idea of where it's at and how it's connected to the manifold. This was taken from curveslayer post about oil catch cans.
This post should help with your problems.

Hope that help.

uhm the person who's car that is above catch canned the wrong line. I've found most of the oil residue in the line before the throttle body.
And its very common under hard right hand turns.

The oil comes from the line closer to the front of the car.

Thanks guys. I posted the question under competition also and got similar responses about this being a common experience. Just wondering if there is anything I should remove and clean when this happens to avoid build ups of oil deposits.
