Default Engine Options

If there aren’t any more new f20/22’s out there, what is an option for the s2k? And are there any that are as high revving? I know about the LS swaps but if you were going to use a Honda or Acura engine.

Are there any shops that can reliably rebuild the f20/22? When I sold mine, there wasn’t anyone that I knew about and it seemed like crate engines were running low.

Thanks

K swapping is like $9k for the initial install, but K series engines are easy enough to source so if you blow the engine again, replacement becomes much cheaper.

K is the way. Buddy of mine is making the swap even though he has a perfectly good running F22 in his car right now. I feel like if you're boosted and you really like to run your car hard/track it/chase big power on stock internals, K is the way to go. Given how difficult it is to source a used F motor at a decent price, as well as how spotty they are in terms of reliability if you choose to rebuild them, it only makes logical sense to go K-swap if anything happens, or in my buddy's case, to just be ahead of it. K series has a much larger and healthier aftermarket, and given that they're an evolution of the F series, there's things that have been improved as well.

What did he do with his OEM F22 engine? Thanks!

Are there any K swap kits using a factory style motor mount? That would be my only reservation about k-swapping if something ever happened to my f22.

Do K engines rev as high? That’s one thing I loved about the f20/22. I know they can literally rev that high but I mean are they rated for three same range?

They rev pretty close to an AP2, lower than an AP1. They have a nice tq curve to boot.

A K20A from a type R should do 9K with only a few small mods.

Similarly for a K20Z from a USDM Si/RSX

People do rev the K24 that high...but it likely won't last.
