Engine Problem
I just bought a 2001 approx 3 months ago. It has 33,xxx miles on it and the only mods that I have done are a cold air intake and some powder coating. All of the mods were done about a month or so ago.
I was going to lunch on Friday and the car completely stalls out. I wasnt horsing around, just driving like everyone else on the road. the car wont turn over, no other accessories to drain the battery, no check engine light, nothing will work. The engine wants to turn over, but wont even start. No check engine light ever came on.
Should I be worried about having the extended warrenty be void with the engine work? I did find this law that worst case sceniero will help me out. The Magnuson-Moss Act Valve cover, heat shield and cai are powder coated, and I just put on the cross member cover and heat shield on the front of the engine.
Any ideas on what could cause this to randomly happen? We shall see what caused this, since it is labor day weekend, hopefully the dealership will give me some positive news tomorrow or wednesday.

Magnuson-Moss is only for manufacturer's warranties, not extended warranties like HondaCare.
What kind of cai? If you still have the stock intake, it's always safer to go back to stock when getting warranty work on any car with extended warranty...especially if the repair is extremely expensive.

Even if the dash lights up, it still may not be enough juice to give you spark.
i will have to check all of those. i am just confused because i was doing 45 when this all happened. i wouldnt think that the battery would just randomly stop working in the middle of me driving.
the car dealership that i bought the car from talked to honda. honda said that it sounds like i some how over-reved the engine and the pistons were slamming into the heads and valves.....i have no idea. i didnt know maybe hitting 7,000 RPM's on a 9,000 RPM car was over-reving. any ideas......

Have they got the car or are they just basing that on your description of the problem?
It didnt make any nasty noises beforehand?
It would be unusual for all pistons to go at once, normally 1 goes and you get a misfire and it sounds like a bag of bolts. With 1 piston gone it should still start but it will be lumpy - all 4 would mean no start.
You could check your plugs and see if any of them are covered in oil (a blown piston will mean oil can pass), or you could aslo try getting a compression check done at the same time.
Hopefully something simple like the immobiliser going wrong!

was it raining? did you misshift it before?
was it pinging or making any noises?
i was 85 and not a cloud in the sky. no noises or pinging in the engine before hand. i was in third i believe. they said i over revved it but last time in did that was approx a month and a half ago at the earliest. only positive thing si that my cousin is working with me on this since he sold me the car.
